We will survive

Here are a few resources to survive this strange times we are living:

1) Everyone is telling us Wash. Your. Hands! Here is how you should do it to effectively remove viruses and bacteria. If you can choose between washing and sanitizer, no question, choose water and soap. Scrub for 20 seconds, remember the fingers, up and around, the top of your hands, and rinse generously. If you cannot wash your hands, then use a tested sanitizer that has at least 60% of alcohol, be generous, cover your hands abundantly and rub ALL surfaces until your hands are dry.

2) These are challenging times. Change is never easy unless it's sung by Mercedes Sosa. WHO has published their Mental Health and Psychosocial Considerations During COVID-19 Outbreak and also their tips on Coping with stress.

3) It is impossible not to worry about the most vulnerable but, in this particular case, we may need to reassess our response. We are all clapping because corona doesn't seem to affect kids so much.

What may not come so natural is that, for once, we should leave our elders alone as much as possible. If they don't need our assistance, we should check on them regularly but from a distance and, unless absolutely unavoidable, we should not bring the children to visit their grandparents. The situation is no joke. Look what has happened in other places.

4) People all over the globe are trying to figure out how to share 24hours a day with their out-of-school kids and working-from-home partner. You probably have seen the most popular picture about how to get working-from-home working. Many could use some tips on how to talk to children or homeschool in this moment of lock-down and some are offering workshops on remote-work.

5) Imagination is power and we have seen a fitness instructor lead a workout from the roof and people join from their balconies, and a teacher sing away the stress of having to transform all his traditional classes into e-learning in a jiffy.

As long as I know how to Zoom, I know I'll be alive!

No matter what you do, what you should NOT DO is beat people up because you think they have the virus, escape from the hospital when you have been asked to quarantine, take your kids for tuition, or spread conspiracy theories about the origin of the virus that do not help solve the problem and do a lot of harm to the general mental health status.
